Doux nommé Guilllaume venant du
Camp du Sr. Poédras [nous] sortant
de L’ouvrage à la nuit, il vint frapper
à la cabane du déclarant, et lui dit
en présence des nommés Louis et Lucas,
esclaves du même maître qu’il vouloit
frapper sur les blancs (cet à dire
massacrer les blancs) & sivous
voulés nous frapperons Le Jour de

Statement of François, slave of Mr. Goudeau
Immediately afterward, we had appear the man named François, mulatto slave of Mr. Goudeau, whom we suspected could inform us about what is in question in these proceedings. After having taken his oath to tell the truth, he said that:
The negro of Madame the widow of J. Pierre Le Doux, who was named Guillaume, came from the camp of Mr. Poédras, left from work at night, came and knocked on the cabin of the respondent, and told him in the presence of the men named Louis and Lucas, slaves of the same master, that he wanted to strike the whites (meaning, massacre the whites) and if they wanted, they would strike on
