Consécutivement avons fait comparaître le nommé Michel mulatre esclave au Sr Charles Duffour, et après fait son serment par Dieu & la Ste Croix de dire la vérité, sur ce qu'il sait au sujet du complot fait par les esclaves de ce district contre leurs maîtres il a déclaré que
Il ne sait autre chose si non que dans le carnaval dernier, que montant dans une pirogue (de la dame) avec un négre nommé Baptiste, à la Veuve Bourgeat, il trouva au débarquement du Sr Poédras le nommé Jean Baptiste commandeur au dit Sieur, buvant du tafia avec des sauvages, et que les sauvages lui dirent qu'ils étaient ici [eux?] bandes de (sauvages) [poltrons] puisque c'était négres se [sic]"

Next we made to appear the man called Michel mulatto slave of Sr Charles Duffour, and after having made his oath to God and the Holy Cross to say the truth, about that which he knew on the subject of the conspiracy made by the slaves of this district against their masters he said that
He didn't know anything else otherwise than that at the last carnival, that [appearing?] in a canoe (of the lady) with a negro called Baptiste, to the Widow Bourgeat, he found upon landing at Sr Poédras' the man called Jean Baptiste commander of the said Sr., drinking taffia with some Indians, and that the Indians told him that they were here [bands of (Indian) cowards], since it was negros [sic]"
