Leblanc, y explicandoselas en frances para
verificar si el dicho Negro Jaco las entiende
y contesta para lo qual primeramente
recivio su Mrd juramento por ante mi el
Escribano al citado Diego Ortiz, quien lo hizo
por Dios Nuestro Señor y la Santa Cruz
de decir verdad en lo que fuere pregunta
do, y despues al dicho Negro Jacob quien lo
hizo por Dios en cuya existencia cree por
medio de los quatro Ynterpretes nombrados
en esta Causa, a Saber D.n Juan Josef Dufo
rest, y D.n Daniel Mortimer, para traducir
del Ydioma frances al Espanol, y los Negros
Antonio Cofi, y Juan Bautista Cupidon pa-
ra hazerlo del de la nacion Mina al fran
ces; y haviendo el mismo Ortiz hecho las
preguntas al Negro Jaco en el idioma

confirm whether the said Black Jaco understood the questions
and answers for which purpose his Honor first
received the oath made before me the
Scribe from the said Diego Ortiz, who gave it
by God Our Lord and the Holy Cross
to say the truth as he was asked,
and then the said Black Jacob who
gave it by God in whose existence he believes
by way of the four Interpreters appointed
in this Trial, that Is Don Juan Josef Duforest,
and Don Daniel Mortimer, to translate
from the French Language to Spanish, and the Blacks
Antonio Cofi, and Juan Bautista Cupidon to
translate from the language of the Mina nation to French;
and with the same Ortiz having questioned
