"à qu'il avait compté ce complot de prendre bien garde d'en parler a aucun négre, en lui disant que se jamais les blancs savaient cela, ils les [puniraient] qu'il ignore si la dite assamblé [c'est] tenue ajoute de plus que Jean Baptiste lui avait dit en presence du nommé Hesidore esclave au Sr George Bergeron qu'il ne fallait point avoir peur, et qu'après avoir tués les blancs, il était capable de se présenter au gouvernment pour présenter ses [raisons] pour le sujet qu'il avait exposé a faire ce massacre, et qu'il avait [des] armes pour lui et, le déclarant, ajoute que lui avait encore dit que tous"

"to whom he had [counted on for] this conspiracy to be very careful in speaking to any negro, saying to him that the whites never know this, they [would punish] them, that he is unaware if the said gathering was held, adding also that Jean Baptiste had told him in the presence of the man called Hesidore slave of Sr. George Bergeron that there was no need to be afraid, and that after killing the whites, he was able to present himself to the government in order to present the reasons for the matter that he had explained to do the massacre, and that he had weapons for him and, the declarant adds that he had told him again that all"
