Additional notes

Presumed to be the same slaveholding Le Blanc referred to offhandedly in the declaration of Jean Baptiste (Poydras)--the passage in question is quoted by Hall (1992: 352)--on account of seemingly being the only Le Blanc who appears to have been active within the context of Pointe Coupee parish slave conveyance prior to 1800. Moreover, the ratification by "Andre Le Blanc" appears to be that of Alexander Le Blanc. Looking at the original page image, one notices that the "dre" is rendered as a superscript, i.e., as an abbreviation of a longer word ("A[lexan]der"). And considering the fact that only Alexander is known to have spoken previously on record--such that a ratification would be necessary--signs point to the Le Blanc, captain of the post.
