ferido D.n Fernando Rodriguez mando su Sra
comparecer al Negro Cofi esclavo de Juan Paul
de quienes su Senoria recivio juramento del
predicho D.n Fernando por Dios y la cruz y del
precitado Negro por Dios en cuya existencia
cree, y haviendo prestado ambos ante mi el Es.no
como se requiere ofreciendo decir verdad en lo
que supieren y fueren preguntados dicho Ro
driguez leyo al Negro Cofi desde la primera
pregunta hasta la ultima respuesta de la
declaracion dada ante el Comandante de Pun
ta Cortada que comienza a foxas quarenta
y dos vuelta de estos autos, la que dicho Fernando
le fue explicando en frances criollo se recono
cio que aunque lo entiende muy regularmente
se explica muy mal, pero ratificando las
respuestas de su confesion dada ante el
Senor Theniente Gobernador y haviendose

having stayed in the room His Honor ordered
the Black Cofi slave of Juan Paul to appear
from whom his Honor received the oath of
the aforementioned Don Fernando under God and the cross and of
the said Black under God in whose existence
he believes, and both having given it before me the Scribe
as is required swearing to tell the truth as
