"& que si le commandant ne voulait pas leur donner leur liberté ils [iraient] [tous] la demander au gouverneur qui le déclarant leur a conseille de ne point en parler aux François étant sur que s'il le savaient ils seraient foueté il ajoute que le dimanche de Paques il étais venu a la messe, et qu'après avoir entendu la messe, il avait attendu (Jean Baptiste), Auguste que parlait a [sic] avec Jean Baptiste Commandeur, et le dit Auguste ayant [fin] de parler, il s'en etait revenu avec le déclarant, qui lui a demandé ce qu'il disait quand ils"
Translation
"and that if the commandant did not want to give them their freedom they would all go to demand it of the governor, that the declarant advised them to not to talk of it to [the French], making sure that if they knew they would be whipped, he adds that Easter Sunday he came to the mass, and that after having heard the mass, he had waited for (Jean Baptiste), Auguste who spoke [sic] with Jean Baptiste commander, and the said Auguste, when he finished talking, he returned with the declarant, who asked him what he said when they"
