Additional notes

Listing of "Guadeaux" alias (from McGowan) is tentative, but Holmes lists him as the only "Louis" being convicted via witness, which meshes with one detail provided by McGowan (the other being Guadeaux's belonging to the Poydras estate, which does not mesh). Also: he indicates in his second declaration (5/16/1795) that he was "a boy" (i.e., unmarried), but he indicates he is married to Philie in his earlier declaration. With regard to age, the number should always be considered approximate for the enslaved, even when a fixed integer is given.
