Intérogé pour quoi ratifie t'il sa déclaration, étant constaté par quatre témoins, dont trois temoins disent que le déclarant [luis] avait assuré que la liberté était deja déclaré, de prendre patience, et qu'elle viendrait bientôt l'autre témoin dit que le déclarant avait dit aussi qu'on avait [sic] des affiches aux portes de l'Eglise de la Capitale déclarant la liberté des esclaves, étant aussi [convaincu], parce qu'il lui a été trouvé un livre intitulé [Théoré de L'Impôt] le quel a été présenté dans cet acte, la reconnu lui appartenir le quel libre parle de la liberté des"

Asked why do you approve your declaration, it having been contested by four witnesses, of which three witnesses said that the declarant had assured them that freedom was already declared, to have patience, and that it would soon come, the other witness says that the declarant had also said that we had [sic] some posters on the doors of the church in the capital declaring the freedom of slaves, having also been convinced, because he had been found with a book titled [Theory of Tax] which was [presented in this act], recognized as belonging to him, the said book spoke about the freedom of"
