Next we have made appear the man called Jean Baptiste of Widow Lacour, to confront him with Youyou mulatto of Sr Tounoir, having made their oath in the ordinary manner, each individually, to tell the truth after having read to the said Youyou the statement of the said Jean Baptiste and various counterclaims made the said Youyou replied [he always lies] and approved his declaration also the said Jean Baptiste his and after having listened to his declaration read and not knowing how to sign we have done it with the assessor and the attending witnesses to all whom we give authority.
