comparraître le nomme Jacob esclave de Veuve Pierre Decuire cite par Jean Baptiste a Veuve Lacour, et apres lui avoir fait faire son serment par Dieu et la Ste Croix de dire la verité au sujet de la cite il a dit que
La cite est vrai parceque le dit Jean Baptiste [venant] de [sic] bas dit en entrant dans la cabane, que les négres de Mr Poédras lui avait dit que les blancs ne leur donnait pas leur liberté ils la prendraient, en tuant les autres blancs, a quoi le dit Ami répondit qu'il ne serait pas le premier, mais qu'il ne serait pas le dernier, qu'il n'a entendu"

The statement is true because the said Jean Baptiste coming from [sic] below said upon entering the cabin, that the negros of Mr Poédras had told him that the whites would not give them their freedom, that they would take it, by killing the other whites, to which the said Ami replied that he would not be the first, but that he would not be the last, that he did not hear"
